Keto Marry Me Chicken

September 6, 2026 by kadr Leave a Comment

Keto Marry Me Chicken is the dinner I turn to when I want something creamy and comforting without reaching for pasta, rice, or other high-carb sides. The chicken stays tender while the sauce brings together garlic, Parmesan, cream, and sun-dried tomatoes for plenty of flavor.

What I like about making this version is that you don’t have to change the dish into something completely different. The rich creamy sauce already works well for a lower-carb meal, so the main focus is simply keeping the ingredients keto-friendly and letting the chicken and sauce do the work.

The chicken gets a good golden sear first, which gives the skillet a flavorful base. Then the cream and Parmesan turn those browned bits into a thick, savory sauce, while the sun-dried tomatoes add little bursts of sweetness and tang.

I usually serve it with a green vegetable or cauliflower mash when I want a complete keto dinner. It is filling enough that you don’t need much else on the plate.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

This recipe keeps the familiar creamy Marry Me Chicken flavors while making the meal low in carbohydrates. There is no pasta, flour, or sugary sauce needed to make the chicken satisfying.

The creamy Parmesan sauce is the main reason this dish works so well. Heavy cream gives it richness, Parmesan adds salty flavor and helps thicken the sauce, and garlic gives everything a savory base.

Sun-dried tomatoes bring another layer of flavor without needing a complicated seasoning mixture. Just make sure you choose tomatoes without added sugar and drain oil-packed tomatoes well before using them.

Another advantage is that the whole meal comes together in one skillet. Once the chicken is seared, the sauce can be made in the same pan, so you get a flavorful dinner without creating a pile of dishes.

Ingredients for Keto Marry Me Chicken

For the Chicken

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts: Two chicken breasts are enough for a filling meal without making the skillet too crowded. If they are thick, slice them horizontally or gently pound them to an even thickness so they cook evenly and stay tender.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning: This gives the chicken a simple blend of herbs that works with the creamy Parmesan sauce. It adds flavor without adding unnecessary ingredients.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt: Salt seasons the chicken before it is seared and helps bring out the flavor of the herbs. If your Parmesan and sun-dried tomatoes are very salty, you can adjust the amount to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper: Black pepper adds mild warmth and helps balance the richness of the cream and cheese.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil: Olive oil helps the chicken brown nicely in the skillet. It also contributes to the flavorful browned bits that become part of the sauce.

For the Keto Creamy Sauce

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced: Garlic gives the sauce its savory foundation. Freshly minced garlic works best and only needs a short time in the skillet to become fragrant.
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth: Chicken broth helps loosen the browned pieces left in the skillet and adds savory flavor to the sauce. Choose a broth with no added sugar or unnecessary high-carb ingredients.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream: Heavy cream gives the sauce its rich, smooth texture and keeps the dish satisfying without needing flour or another thickener.
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese: Parmesan adds a salty, nutty flavor and helps naturally thicken the sauce as it melts into the cream. Freshly grated Parmesan generally melts more smoothly.
  • 1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes: Sun-dried tomatoes provide the sweet and tangy flavor that makes this dish taste like Marry Me Chicken. For a keto-friendly version, choose sun-dried tomatoes without added sugar and drain them before chopping.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning: A little extra Italian seasoning gives the sauce a stronger herbal flavor and ties it together with the seasoned chicken.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes: Red pepper flakes add gentle heat that helps cut through the richness of the creamy sauce. You can leave them out if you prefer a mild dish.

For Finishing

  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped: Fresh basil adds brightness to the rich sauce and gives the finished chicken a fresh herbal flavor. Add it after cooking for the best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth, as needed: Keep a little extra broth nearby in case the sauce becomes too thick. You may only need a tablespoon or two to bring it back to a smooth consistency.

How to Make Keto Marry Me Chicken

  • Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels, then season both sides evenly with Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. If the breasts are thick, slice them horizontally or gently pound them to an even thickness. This helps them cook evenly and prevents the thinner edges from drying out.
  • Sear the chicken: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, place the chicken in the skillet and let it cook without moving it too much. Cook for about 4–5 minutes on each side, or until the chicken develops a golden-brown crust and is cooked through. Transfer it to a plate and let it rest while you prepare the sauce.
  • Cook the garlic: Reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the same skillet. Stir for about 30 seconds, using a wooden spoon to loosen some of the browned pieces from the bottom. Keep the garlic moving so it becomes fragrant without burning.
  • Add the chicken broth: Pour the chicken broth into the skillet and stir well, scraping the bottom to release any remaining browned bits. Let the broth simmer for about 1 minute so it picks up the flavor from the chicken before you add the cream.
  • Build the creamy sauce: Add the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir everything together and let the sauce gently simmer for about 2–3 minutes. The Parmesan should melt into the cream and the sauce should begin to thicken.
  • Return the chicken: Place the cooked chicken back into the skillet along with any juices that collected on the plate. Spoon the creamy sauce over the chicken and let everything simmer gently for another 2–3 minutes so the chicken warms through and picks up more of the sauce.
  • Check the sauce: The sauce should be creamy and thick enough to coat the chicken without becoming stiff. If it has thickened too much, add a tablespoon of chicken broth at a time and stir gently until it reaches the consistency you want. If it is too thin, allow it to simmer uncovered for another minute or two.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning: Taste the sauce before adding more salt because the Parmesan and sun-dried tomatoes can already be quite salty. Add a little more black pepper, Italian seasoning, or red pepper flakes if you want stronger flavor.
  • Finish with basil: Turn off the heat and sprinkle the chopped fresh basil over the chicken and sauce. Let the skillet sit for about a minute so the basil can release its fresh flavor into the warm sauce.
  • Serve immediately: Spoon plenty of creamy sauce and sun-dried tomatoes over each piece of chicken. Serve the chicken while it is warm so the sauce stays smooth and creamy.

What to Serve Keto Marry Me Chicken With

Keto Marry Me Chicken is rich enough to serve on its own, but I like adding a vegetable that can balance the creamy sauce. Roasted broccoli is one of the easiest choices because the slightly crisp edges of the broccoli work well with the tender chicken and rich sauce. Green beans, asparagus, zucchini, and sautéed spinach are also simple options that fit naturally into the meal.

Cauliflower is another favorite when I want the dinner to feel more substantial. You can serve the chicken over cauliflower rice so the rice absorbs some of the creamy sauce, or make a smooth cauliflower mash and spoon the chicken and sauce over it. Both options give you something to catch the sauce without adding regular rice or potatoes.

A simple green salad works well when you want something fresh on the side. Lettuce, cucumber, a few tomatoes, and a light dressing can give the meal some crunch without competing with the main dish. I would keep the dressing simple because the chicken already has plenty of richness from the cream and Parmesan.

If you’re serving this for a family dinner, you can also put a few different vegetables on the table and let everyone choose what they want. The chicken and sauce are flavorful enough that you don’t need to make several complicated keto sides. A vegetable, a little cauliflower rice, and the creamy chicken are more than enough for a satisfying dinner.

How to Store and Reheat Keto Marry Me Chicken

Store leftover Keto Marry Me Chicken in an airtight container and refrigerate it within a couple of hours after cooking. It will keep well in the refrigerator for about 3–4 days. Keep the chicken and sauce together when possible because the creamy sauce helps protect the chicken from drying out while it is stored.

The sauce will become thicker once it is chilled because the cream and Parmesan firm up in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to reheat it, I recommend using a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the chicken and sauce to the pan along with a small splash of chicken broth or heavy cream, then warm everything slowly.

Stir the sauce gently as it heats and add another small splash of liquid if it still looks too thick. You don’t want the sauce to boil hard because high heat can cause a creamy Parmesan sauce to separate. Gentle reheating keeps the sauce much smoother and helps the chicken stay tender.

For a quick single serving, the microwave also works. Place the chicken and sauce in a microwave-safe dish, cover it loosely, and heat in short intervals. Check and stir the sauce between intervals, and add a little broth or cream if needed. This prevents the sauce from becoming overly thick while the chicken warms.

When reheating, I like adding a little fresh basil or Parmesan on top before serving. It gives the leftovers a fresher finish and makes the meal feel less like yesterday’s dinner. Serve it with freshly cooked cauliflower rice, broccoli, asparagus, or another keto-friendly vegetable for an easy second meal.
