Chicken Tender Wraps are one of those meals I can put together quickly when I don’t want to spend much time deciding what to cook. Crispy chicken, fresh vegetables, cheese, and a creamy sauce all wrapped in a soft tortilla make a very satisfying meal.
I usually keep the filling simple. You don’t need a pile of ingredients because the chicken tenders already bring plenty of flavor and texture to the wrap.
What I like most is how easy these are to change. Use ranch, honey mustard, buffalo sauce, or a little mayo-based dressing depending on what you’re in the mood for.
They also make a great lunch because you can prepare the chicken ahead of time and assemble the wraps when you’re ready to eat.
Why You Will Love This Recipe
Chicken Tender Wraps are crispy, fresh, filling, and easy to customize. The warm chicken contrasts nicely with crunchy lettuce and fresh vegetables, while cheese and dressing bring everything together.
You can use homemade chicken tenders or leftover cooked tenders to save time. This makes the recipe especially useful when you already have chicken in the refrigerator.
The wraps are also easy to make for different tastes. Add more vegetables for crunch, leave out the cheese if you prefer, or make them spicy with buffalo sauce or sliced jalapeños.
Ingredients for Chicken Tender Wraps
For the Chicken
- 1 pound chicken tenders, or chicken breast cut into strips.
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs, for a crispy coating.
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, for coating.
- 1 egg, beaten.
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, for flavor.
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika, for color and mild flavor.
- Salt and black pepper, to taste.
- 1 tablespoon olive oil, for baking or air frying.
For the Wraps
- 4 medium flour tortillas, for wrapping.
- 1 cup shredded lettuce, for crunch.
- 1 small tomato, diced.
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, or your favorite cheese.
- 1/4 cup ranch or honey mustard, for the sauce.
- Sliced avocado or red onion, optional.
How to Make Chicken Tender Wraps
- Prepare the chicken. If you’re using chicken breasts, cut them into strips that are similar in size so they cook evenly. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels, which helps the coating stick better and gives you a crispier finish.
- Set up the coating. Place the flour in one shallow bowl and beat the egg in another. In a third bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper so the chicken gets seasoned from the inside of the coating.
- Coat the chicken. Dip each chicken strip into the flour, shaking off the excess, then coat it in the beaten egg. Move it into the seasoned panko and press the breadcrumbs gently onto all sides so you get an even coating.
- Cook the chicken. Heat your oven to 425°F and place the coated chicken on a lightly greased baking sheet or wire rack. Lightly brush or spray the tops with olive oil, then bake for about 18–22 minutes, turning halfway through, until the coating is golden and the chicken reaches 165°F internally.
- Prepare the vegetables. While the chicken cooks, shred the lettuce and dice the tomato. If you’re using avocado or red onion, slice those as well and keep everything ready so you can assemble the wraps as soon as the chicken is done.
- Warm the tortillas. Heat each tortilla in a dry skillet for about 15–20 seconds per side, or warm them briefly in the microwave. A warm tortilla is softer and much less likely to crack when you fold the wrap.
- Add the sauce. Lay one warm tortilla flat and spread about a tablespoon of ranch, honey mustard, or another sauce across the center. Avoid spreading the sauce all the way to the edges because that can make the wrap harder to fold.
- Layer the filling. Add a small handful of shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and shredded cheese over the sauce. Place one or two chicken tenders on top, depending on their size, leaving enough room around the edges to fold the tortilla.
- Fold the wrap. Fold the bottom edge of the tortilla over the filling, then fold in both sides and roll it tightly toward the top. Keep the filling centered as you roll so it stays inside instead of falling out the sides.
- Toast the wrap if you like. For a warmer, slightly crispier wrap, place the finished wrap seam-side down in a dry skillet over medium heat. Cook for about 1–2 minutes per side until the tortilla is lightly golden and holds its shape.
- Slice and serve. Cut each wrap in half at an angle and serve immediately. Add extra sauce on the side if you like, especially if you prefer a creamier wrap.
What to Serve Chicken Tender Wraps
Chicken Tender Wraps are filling enough to serve on their own, but crispy fries or roasted potatoes make an easy side. If you’re serving lunch, a small bowl of fresh fruit or a simple salad is another good option.
For something lighter, serve the wraps with cucumber, carrot sticks, or a simple tomato salad. The fresh vegetables add crunch without making the meal too heavy.
You can also put several sauces on the table so everyone can choose. Ranch, honey mustard, buffalo sauce, and barbecue sauce all work well with crispy chicken tenders.
How to Store and Reheat Chicken Tender Wraps
Store the cooked chicken tenders separately from the tortillas and fresh vegetables whenever possible. Keep the chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days, while the lettuce and tomato should stay refrigerated separately.
To reheat the chicken, use an oven or air fryer at 375°F for about 5–10 minutes so the coating becomes crisp again. Avoid microwaving the chicken if you can because it tends to soften the crispy coating.
For the best texture, assemble the wraps just before serving. Warm the tortilla, add the fresh vegetables and reheated chicken, then finish with your sauce so everything tastes fresh and the tortilla stays soft.
