Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta

August 29, 2026 by kadr Leave a Comment

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta is one of those dinners I make when I want something creamy, cheesy, and comforting without making the meal complicated. Tender chicken, crispy bacon, pasta, and ranch seasoning come together in a sauce that is hard to resist.

I like how the bacon adds a smoky, salty bite while the ranch seasoning gives the creamy sauce plenty of flavor. You do not need a lot of extra spices because the main ingredients already bring so much to the dish.

This is especially useful on busy nights when I want a dinner that everyone at the table will enjoy. Once the pasta is cooked, everything comes together in one skillet, which also means fewer dishes waiting for me afterward.

I sometimes add a little broccoli or spinach when I want some vegetables in the meal, but the simple chicken, bacon, and cheese version is still my favorite. It is rich, cozy, and very easy to make.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta combines some seriously comforting flavors in one bowl. The creamy sauce coats the pasta, while tender chicken and crispy bacon give it plenty of texture.

The recipe is also straightforward. You do not need to make a complicated sauce from scratch or use a long list of seasonings. Ranch seasoning, Parmesan, and a few simple ingredients do most of the work.

It is a good choice for family dinners because you can easily adjust the ingredients. Add more bacon if you like, toss in a vegetable, or use your favorite short pasta shape.

Ingredients for Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta

For the Chicken and Pasta

  • Chicken breasts: Use 2 small chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces. This keeps the chicken easy to cook and easy to eat with the pasta.
  • Pasta: Use about 8 ounces of penne, rotini, or another short pasta.
  • Bacon: Use 4 slices, chopped. Cook it until crisp for the best texture.
  • Garlic: Use 2 cloves minced garlic for extra savory flavor.
  • Olive oil: Use 1 teaspoon if needed for cooking the chicken.

For the Creamy Ranch Sauce

  • Heavy cream: Use 1 cup for a rich, creamy sauce.
  • Chicken broth: Use ½ cup to loosen the sauce and add savory flavor.
  • Ranch seasoning: Use 1 tablespoon, or adjust to taste.
  • Cream cheese: Use 3 ounces, softened, to make the sauce smooth and creamy.
  • Parmesan cheese: Use ¼ cup grated Parmesan for extra cheesy flavor.
  • Black pepper: Add to taste.
  • Green onions: Use 2 sliced green onions for topping. This is optional.

How to Make Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta

  • Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve about ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
  • Cook the bacon: Add the chopped bacon to a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until crisp, then transfer it to a plate lined with paper towels. Leave about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the skillet.
  • Prepare the chicken: Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and season lightly with black pepper.
  • Cook the chicken: Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  • Check the chicken: Make sure the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest pieces.
  • Add the garlic: Stir the minced garlic into the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Build the sauce: Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well, scraping up the flavorful bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  • Add the ranch seasoning: Stir in the ranch seasoning and let the sauce gently simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Add the cream cheese: Stir in the softened cream cheese until it melts into the sauce and becomes smooth.
  • Add Parmesan: Stir in the Parmesan cheese and continue cooking gently until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Add the pasta: Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss until everything is well coated with the creamy ranch sauce.
  • Adjust the consistency: If the sauce is too thick, add a small splash of reserved pasta water and stir until smooth.
  • Add the bacon: Stir most of the crispy bacon into the pasta, saving a little for the top.
  • Taste and adjust: Add more ranch seasoning or black pepper if needed.
  • Finish and serve: Top with the remaining bacon and sliced green onions if using, then serve warm.

What to Serve Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta is rich and filling, so I like serving it with something fresh on the side. A simple green salad with lettuce, cucumber, and tomatoes helps balance the creamy pasta. Steamed broccoli, roasted green beans, or asparagus are also good choices when you want to add a vegetable without making another complicated dish.

Garlic bread is an easy match if you have extra creamy sauce left in the skillet. Crispy garlic bread gives you something crunchy alongside the soft pasta and is especially good for a family-style dinner. If you want a lighter side, a piece of toasted sourdough or a simple dinner roll works just as well.

For a casual dinner with family, I usually serve the pasta straight from the skillet with a simple salad. If you are having guests, you can transfer it to a large serving dish and sprinkle a little extra Parmesan and bacon over the top. The dish already looks inviting, so you do not need much decoration.

You can also add a vegetable directly to the pasta if you want to make the meal more complete. Broccoli and spinach both work nicely with the ranch and bacon flavors. I prefer adding vegetables when I want the dish to feel a little lighter while still keeping the creamy, cheesy pasta as the main attraction.

How to Store and Reheat

Store leftover Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. Let it cool slightly before transferring it to the container, but do not leave cooked chicken or pasta sitting at room temperature for a long time.

The creamy sauce will thicken as it cools, so add a small splash of chicken broth or milk before reheating. Warm the pasta gently in a skillet over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until heated through. You can also use the microwave, heating it in 30- to 60-second intervals and stirring between each one.

Gentle reheating is important because high heat can cause the creamy sauce to become too thick or separate. A little extra liquid helps bring the sauce back to a smooth consistency.

For the best bacon texture, you can save a little cooked bacon separately and add it after reheating. That way, the bacon stays crisp instead of becoming soft in the sauce. Finish with a little Parmesan or green onion if you have some left.

If you are planning to have leftovers, I also recommend keeping extra sauce or a small amount of broth nearby when reheating. The pasta absorbs some of the sauce as it sits, but a quick splash of liquid can make leftover pasta creamy again.
