  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika optional
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley optional
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Equipment

  • Large non-stick or cast-iron skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Tongs
  • Paper towels
  • Sharp knife
  • Meat thermometer

Method

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. If needed, pound them to an even thickness.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the sweet paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  3. Rub the chicken with olive oil, then coat evenly with the seasoning mixture.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Add the butter during the last minute of cooking and spoon the melted butter over the chicken.
  7. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Sweet paprika creates a rich color and mild flavor, while smoked paprika adds extra depth.
  • Let the chicken rest before slicing to keep it juicy.
  • Use an instant-read thermometer to avoid overcooking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Great for meal prep, sandwiches, wraps, salads, or grain bowls.
