Air Fryer Chicken Tenders

This air fryer chicken tender recipe is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. It is coated in a seasoned breadcrumb mixture and air fried until perfectly golden with very little oil. This recipe is an easy, high-protein meal that's perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, or a family-friendly dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • pounds chicken tenders
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray

Method
 

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 minutes.
  2. Pat the chicken tenders dry with paper towels.
  3. In one shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  4. In another bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Lightly coat the chicken tenders with olive oil.
  6. Dip each tender into the egg mixture, then coat evenly in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently so the coating sticks.
  7. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the chicken tenders in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket.
  8. Lightly spray the tops of the chicken tenders with cooking spray.
  9. Air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  10. Let the chicken tenders rest for 3 to 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Cook in batches if needed for the crispiest results.
  • Panko breadcrumbs create a lighter, crunchier coating.
  • Add cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture for extra heat.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 375°F for 3 to 4 minutes to restore crispiness.
